Chapter Philanthropy

Each year Kappa Kappa Gamma holds two different philanthropy events that benefit our philanthropies. We hold one philanthropy event each semester (Fall and Spring) to raise money and awareness to our causes.

We have recently taken on a new cause for our philanthropy; Mental Health and Well-Being

Why has Kappa selected mental health and well-being as its new philanthropic focus?

Kappas have recognized the need for support for their mental health and well-being especially transitioning into college life. This cause means so much to our chapter at Florida State University, as mental health is something that many college students face challenges with. Our goal is to spread awareness and important resources around campus that can help others, and make a true difference in someones life.

No matter what mental health and well-being means to you, we recognize that it is vital to your ability to live fully. We’re prioritizing it 365 days a year because there’s no denying it’s something many individuals, including our members, face every day.

The Epsilon Zeta Chapter has paired with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) which is an organization that provides advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.

In the Fall semester we have held our Kappa Kickball philanthropy event which is a kickball tournament including many of the IFC Fraternities and Panhellenic Chapters. Kappas hold the role as team captains to help keep the moral and team spirit up throughout the event. It is a day filled with fun and excitement benefiting such an incredible cause while also getting to spend time with our IFC and Panhellenic communities!

One of our favorite past philanthropy events was hosting a Goat Yoga session! This was super fun and different for our community to come together and get their zen on while being surrounded by the cutest goats to play with!

This past spring semester we had the opportunity to hold two philanthropy events.

First we hosted Kappa Kampfire, a drive through event where we safely served tasty In-N-Out style burgers, fries and s'mores bars! We directed traffic down West Jefferson Street and provided meals on the go in support of Reading is Fundamental and the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation. It was a great success!

We also held our first ever virtual philanthropy event, Kappa Kookies! For this event we collaborated with a local bakery to put on a cookie decorating class via Facebook live. Current members, alumni, family and friends joined to benefit the cause and learned a new hobby along the way! It was a great way to raise money while also staying connected in this isolating time.

This upcoming Spring, we are hosting our Kappa Koffee & Goats Philanthropy Event! We are raising money in support of (NAMI) The National Alliance on Mental Illness as well as the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation. This event will have coffee from The Frother's Daughter, baby goats from Silly Goose Farmstead, yummy pastries, and fun with friends! We are so excited to raise money for these causes and bring some animal love to campus!
